April is National Volunteer month, a time when we at Chi-Care reflect and give thanks to our loyal and dedicated base of volunteers. Without our volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to operate.

We rely on volunteers to distribute meals to thousands of unhoused and underserved Chicagoans each month. So far in 2026, Chi-Care has recorded approximately 270 individual volunteers, because of whom, we have been able to provide our community with 17,905 meals.

Here at Chi-Care, we encourage volunteers of all ages to get involved. When young people volunteer it promotes empathy and compassion and helps them develop a stronger understanding of community and sense of belonging.
